I wasn't hungry this morning, so I didn't eat any breakfast. At about 1:30 I made a green smoothie with dandelion greens, mangoes. strawberries, blueberries, and a tiny bit of leftover orange/banana juice that I made for my son. My blood sugar was 180 before I ate the smoothie, so I took 1 unit of humalog for the overage and 2 for the smoothie.
At 4:30 I started getting tired. I checked my blood sugar and it was too high - 300. I definitely didn't take enough to cover that smoothie. So I took 2 1/2 more units.
I started getting hungry at 7:00 pm and had a green drink - filled up my stainless steel bottle with filtered, distilled water (about a quart), 10 pH drops, and 3/4 t of green powder. Then at 8 I made another green smoothie - 2 mangos, 1 pint blueberries, lots of dandelion greens, & 1/2 cup water. My blood sugar was 73, so I didn't take any insulin with the smoothie. Bad idea, when I checked my blood sugar at 11 it had gone up to 344. So I took 3 units to bring it down.
My usual 24 hour dose of Lantus is 10, but since I had so much trouble with my blood sugar crashing last time I tried this juice feast I reduced my dosage to 9 tonight.
I think this shows that green smoothies don't work well for me and I am looking forward to my juice feast.
